Transports Being Planned - Posted 10/05/2007 at 12:45PM

We're more than 2/3rds of the way there --
For all the shelters and ferret folks across this country who stepped
up to the plate to take in Ohio ferrets, you astound us. Even though
your shelters were already full, you didn't let that stop you. You marched
right up to the front lines in your hip waders to jump in and help,
not knowing how on earth you were going to make it work, but you did
it anyway because you know we are all in this together. All differences
were put aside for the greater good and a chance for a better life for
each and every Ohio rescue ferret. Thank you to all of the individuals
who donated goods and volunteered -- certainly you must know that without
donations and volunteers none of this would have been possible to begin
with. Fingers crossed, we believe that we'll be done by the end of October
and there is no longer a need for donated items like bedding or food,
etc. We have two transports on the way with donations, coupled with
a kind donation of more food from a group in Canada and Lori believes
that this will be enough to get her through. Hundreds of people have
emailed me in the last two weeks regarding Ohio's rescue ferrets and
the rescue in general. I have not been able to get back to all of you
--- and trying to sort through that many daily emails as well as plan
and coordinate transports, well, let's just say I'm up to my knees in
you-know-what. I'm putting out an ali-ali-in-come-free for certain transports:
TRANSPORTS
MISSISSIPPI - We have a transport planned from Ohio to Northwestern
Mississippi on
Tuesday. Anyone is MS (or thereabouts) who would like to adopt DMK
ferrets, please contact me and put MISSISSIPPI in the subject line.
TEXAS - We have a transport going to Texas in about a week and a half. Any TX
folks who want Ohio ferrets (that I have not contacted yet), please
email me and put TEXAS in the subject line.
Colorado -
A group from Colorado will be arriving in Ohio on the 12 or 13 of
October to pick up ferrets. Anyone in or around the Boulder area who
can take an Ohio ferret, please email me (with COLORADO in the subject
line) -- I think we may have a little extra room on the transport to
send a few extra back for others.
CHICAGO - We will have a transport going to Chicago for the Chicago show on
10/13. Anyone in or near Chicago who has room in their hearts for
any Ohio ferrets -- email me with CHICAGO in the subject line.
SOUTHWEST - We would LOVE a transport to the southwest, an area we have not been
able to address at all. For all you FAA folks who want to help (but
not through FAA) -- please contact me if you can drive any leg of the
journey from Ohio to Arizona.
TENNESSEE - We have someone who is volunteering at Lori's on the weekend of
10/13-10/14. She will be driving back to Nashville, TN. Anyone in the
Nashville or surrounding areas that can take an Ohio ferret, email me
with NASHVILLE in the subject line.
Hundreds Of Ferrets Rescued
DMK Ferret Farm Has Ceased Ferret Operations On September 16, 2007, the bulk of the breeder ferrets in the DMK operation located near Marengo, Oh, were released to Lori Sies, director of Ferrets Dream House Rescue. Due to equipment restraints, the balance was picked up at a later date.
