I have adopted 4 DMK girls. Two girls, Gabby and Widget, were serious biters with different reasons. Gabby is a tiny lightweight compared to her sisters and was simply terrified of everything, noises, quick movements, etc. she needed two days of free roam in my master bed/bath to get used to average household noises. Now she is a happy, bouncy girl who rarely bites and asks to be held (albeit for short times).
Widget bites for another reason. She is bold and may just want attention or a treat- when she bites a firm NO and time out is warranted. (One need only “squeak” with Gabby) She has improved greatly and adores playing w/people!!! The other two hefty girls are totally laid back and rarely bite, even then it's not painful. One (name to be determined) “chose” my husband while at DookNook in Jacksonville , FL , while we were making a pick up for 3 others. The other, Maggie, is just an all-around doll baby, loves everyone, chases cats, much to their chagrin! She has a “twin” sister that lives in St.Pete with her new mommy and I am lucky to get updates nearly daily on her!
All the kids go go go nonstop, so happy to be free of those confining cages in Ohio . They had a lot to learn about “pet” life but have joyfully wallowed in the newness of love and care. These girls stick together and often abandon all but one hammy and pile together to sleep. So cute…
With the generosity of Dr. Cottrell DVM, at West End Animal Hospital , (THANKS!!!) these girls have had their spays for FREE and are recovering beautifully. She helped many other DMK kids too.
I am grateful for every day I have had with these kids and they are very well worth all the Band-Aids I have gone through!
